Surround your crystal grid with a circle of rock salt to help to keep it cleansed and free frm negative vibrations.

Keep up-to-date with Reiki research.  There are plenty of scientific studies on healing going on all around the globe, some tests you can try at home other pieces of information can be very useful to quote to clients.

If something strange happens when you're giving healing don't rationalise it away, think closely about it; look for the meaning, the significance, the message!

Many new Reiki students have difficulty with the first hand position, they are worried that their hands are cold or clamy.  The hand positions aren't cast in stone, If you're having troublle I recommend starting your healing routine with your hands on your clients shoulders.  This is less intimate than head contact and gives time for your to adjust to your clients energy and get comfortably in your healing zone.  When you feel ready you can then move back to the head healing positions.

You can you channel healing through any Major or Minor Chakra.  If  you're lying next to someone you can try channelling healing through all your Major Chakras to all their Major Chakras, this can feel quite intimate so you might want to pick carefully who you try this with.

If you hate touching peoples feet try asking them to bring their own socks so that you're not actually touching their feet, or you can hover your hand position.  If you are a Master you could use a wand between you and your client's feet with the added bonus that you're magnifying the healing that you send.

If you're having trouble remembering the Reiki symbols (words), which can seem very complicated having them pinned up on the wall helps.  Do remember not every healer feels drawn to use the symbols, developing and deepening your spiritual connection can serve just as well.   For example, I only use the symbols in attunement ceremonies.

Although tempting don't learn Reiki levels I and II together, there are Masters out there willing to teach both levels during a week's retreat.  However, I personally feel that you're wasting your money doing two levels together.  The idea of levels is so that you can reach them, and then practice at them.  Trying to circumnavigate one of these stages is to miss an important stage in your healing development, ultimately you loose out in not gaining valuable experience and practice.

New Healer Encouragement

As a virgin Reiki healer the hardest part of practicing your new skills is to believe in yourself and your connection to energy and spirit.  A dedication to practicing regularly is the only sure way that I know of how to increase your belief and connection.  Even if you feel nothing, no sensation or heat in your hands, keep practicing.  Even if the feedback you get from your healed friends and family says that they felt nothing, keep practicing.  Make sure that the people you practice on know that you are a student, and initially try to keep to the same people so that they can give you feedback on any differences that they felt from one session to another, and after each session.  Keep notes so that you can track your progress and don't give up, learning to be an effective healer takes time.

Healing is a 'hands-on' skill.  You can learn the theory but it means nothing without perfecting the art of moving energy through your body, and this can only be learnt when giving healing.  Every time you practice healing you are re-enforcing your intention to heal and teaching your energy system to respond to your intention.  You are teaching your energy system to open itself to more energy than you need, and to channel that energy along pathways that will become stronger through use, and finally to let that extra energy flow from you through your Minor Hand Chakras, which will increase in capacity until they resemble a Major Chakra.  You offer the energy that you channel to the person you are healing.  If they accept your offer, you feel the pull of their intake of energy as sensations or heat in your hands.

Imagine if you were training a physical part of  your body to perform in a new way.  For example, how long whould it take you to perfect writing with the hand you currently don't write with?  How much practice would it take? Although you can't see your energy system it's still in you, and it still responds in the same way that the rest of you learns, by repetition and practice.  So when you're in the early stages of learning to give healing be kind and patient with  yourself, give your system time to learn what it is you want it do do, and don't doubt that energy will flow - maybe slowly at first, but with practice it will increase.  Just keep practicing, the world needs all the healers it can get.
